Facilities
During your stay in the unit you’ll have a lot of free time to yourself. See a volunteer’s blog for an idea of how your time will be spent whilst you are in the unit. During your free time in the unit you will be able to use our facilities which include:
- 3 Volunteer lounge rooms (1 with pool table)
- 2 Dining rooms
- Free unlimited internet access
- Games consoles
- DVD library
- Board games
- Sky TV (includes movie and sports channels)
- Newspapers and board games
- Laundry services provided on longer studies
During your stay all meals will be provided for you. Often you will able to choose from a menu, although occasionally the diet for a study is fixed so that all volunteers have the same. Unfortunately special diets cannot usually be catered for, although sometimes PAREXEL International are able to offer a vegetarian alternative to the set meal plan.
It is important to note that during a study there is limited access to the outside. Generally whilst you are resident within the unit you are not allowed outside of the unit.
The unit has a number of wards, each with just 6 or 7 beds which you will share with other volunteers on your study. Each ward has its own en-suite facilities. All of our wards have very modern equipment to monitor you during the trial.
